About Double Play

About Double Play

Double Play is an optional add-on to the Powerball game, giving players an additional chance to win with the same ticket in a second drawing. This means you have a chance to win twice with a single ticket. If you have matches in both drawings, you’ll receive prizes for each. Double Play drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays after the main Powerball drawing.

Double Play is available exclusively as an extension of the Powerball game. You can play Powerball without Double Play, but not the other way around. For more details about the Powerball game, visit our Powerball page.

Double Play launched on August 23, 2021.

How to play Double Play?

To play Double Play, simply select numbers as you would for Powerball:

  1. Choose 5 main numbers between 1 and 69.
  2. Then, select 1 Powerball number between 1 and 26.

Winning the Double Play jackpot requires matching all 5 main numbers plus the Powerball. The minimum prize requires matching at least the Powerball number.

Double Play is only available as a Powerball add-on and cannot be played independently. The Power Play option is not available for Double Play, so Double Play prizes cannot be multiplied.

Ticket Costs

  • Powerball Ticket: $2 per play
  • Double Play Option: +$1

Odds of Winning and Prize Breakdown

Double Play prizes are fixed at each prize tier. The Double Play jackpot is always $10 million per draw, regardless of previous winners. If multiple players win the jackpot, it will be split among them.
