Winning the Jackpot
To win the jackpot, your 5 white balls and Powerball number must match the drawn numbers. For the minimum prize, you need to match at least the Powerball number.
Power Play multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times, based on a multiplier selected randomly before each draw.
For example, if you match 4 numbers, the base prize is $100; with a Power Play multiplier of 3, the prize becomes $300.
Match 5 prizes with Power Play are always $2 million, regardless of the multiplier.
The 10x multiplier is only available when the jackpot is $150 million or less.
Double Play offers a second chance to win using your Powerball numbers in an additional drawing held after the main Powerball drawing. More details can be found on the Double Play page.
Powerball prizes are fixed amounts except for the jackpot, which varies with each draw. If there are multiple winners, the jackpot is split. If no jackpot is won, it rolls over to the next drawing, allowing it to grow until it’s won.
Since Powerball’s inception, the range of white balls and Powerball numbers has changed multiple times, with the latest adjustment on October 7, 2015. The table below shows the current odds and prize amounts.
